As Basil Faulty famously said “Masters of stating the bleeding obvious”. These guys are talking about a past world. One that has already moved on.
The main issue to take from the discussion is dynamic routing and the one not discussed is Electric Vehicles. The 2 are inextricably linked.
Arrival of the UK is turning upside down the production of Electric vehicles, UBER is a major customer. At the same time Amazon is amassing a fleet of 100,000 EVs.
As these vehicles arrive, so will dynamic routing .. FOR SOME. There’s the risk for all existing delivery businesses, if you don’t have both, you will not be in the game.
And for those who say EVs will not work in Australia consider this. The 2 biggest LHD car markets are UK and Japan, both are committed to phasing out petrol/diesel in just a few years. Will anyone be mass producing at competitive prices petrol/ diesel LHD vehicles for the relatively small Australia market? No is the short answer.
Yes I have gone off topic. But discussing the current newspaper delivery systems seems somewhat irrelevant, they are about to be totally swept away by forces outside the channel.
