I know newspapers are important to you, but I’d like you to consider no longer stocking Murdoch newspapers, especially The Australian.
The request was as simple as that. Gentle. Respectful. Straight forward.
I asked why. They said what has happened in the US triggered them into action. They are, apparently, going around other newsagents and retailers and making the same request.
While in our case it is only one person, I wonder if more will make this request, especially in Victoria where the Murdoch press campaign and disinformation against the state government was extraordinary.
The campaign against The Sun in the UK started small and local. Now, it’s got quit the following.
I was interested to read this. I have been asked twice now. Once mid last year and again a week ago. In each case they were older customers, in their 70s. They were polite. The one last year took a few minutes to explain why. I think this is something to watch.

I respect that these people don’t like the Murdoch publications, but I don’t agree they have the right to ask for it to not be stocked. That makes them the censors, and that is not good.
By all means don’t buy their products, campaign or petition against the content, but how do you then cater for those (if there are any) that seek out these same publications. I don’t believe we have the right to deny them that based on the views of others.

Glenn, I agree and whilst The Austrlian favoured Trump in general and very specifically with some comments from individual journalists many others did not.
in fact the last few references especiallt Editorial tey called Trump disgraceful.
Either way censorship is te buyers responsibility. Not the storekeepers when it comes to News.
Freedom speech and expression.

My interest is more in whether this is being asked much.

it’s such a minority that would make such a comment
it raises the question of how this helps newsagents
i am not being critical I just wonder what the fascination is with Murdoch press. for the Public it’s simple Like it, buy it or don’t like if don’t buy it. and judging by the decline this is self evident.
