Tatts pitches ease of purchase

On my phone today. I could complete a purchase in under 10 seconds.

While the Lottoland victory is important, the migration of over the counter purchases to mobile and online is the main challenge newsagents with lotteries face. I fear too many are not managing heir businesses with this migration on their mind. It is easy to ignore something you do not easily see.

Why do you think the recent 12 month free membership was offered with a Saturday lotto maxipick not because they are just a bunch of nice people but it gave them access to more of our in-store customers to be marketed and try to convert them on line.

Colin a regular complaint I receive from newsagents about this blog is that I knock Tatts too much, that I talk Tatts down.

Tatts is a public company. As such it has one obligation, to drive she price. The best way for them to do that is by increasing sales and cutting costs.

Their investment in mobile and desktop is considerable and shows no sign of slowing. This is being done at the same time they demand retailers invest in a new image and a new in-store marketing platform, for which there is no evidence of an increase in revenue.

The newsagents who complain to me are not looking at the evidence.

The legislation to ban Lottoland hasn’t even passed the parliament yet (do we know if its got support from Labor and the minor parties to get through the senate?) and even when it does pass, its still got a fairly long delay before it actually comes into force (apparently to give the companies enough time to wind down their lotto betting operations or something)

So calling it a “victory” seems wrong to me, not until Lottoland is actually gone.

Newsagents have seen off tatts online competitor and in the process lost any leverage for a better deal. Im not expecting any thanks from tatts. They kept their distance over the whole campaign. $5mln they spent and not a single tatts logo on the material. Luke Churchill sending the ANZACs into Gallipoli…

Mark I believe that we are able to speak about facts. Tatts probably has the best agent network in the world we work hard everyday to achieve a mutual result to provide a good service to our customers convenience ,spent a lot of money to a standard of fit out to their specifications . The network of the agents were here before Tatts and are the ones that built up the business to what it is today. In return we are being continually being in competition with Tatts ,audits and ringing our customers to see if we are doing the right things by them is only causing to put a wedge between us and them. Lets put it this way if I was the boss at a large organization and treated my workers this way I should not expect their respect and co-operation. So Tatts how about having a go and working together as a team , together we will win divided we will fall.
