The owner of Rankins newsagency in Brisbane has setup a petition to lobby the council to reverse their decision to evict the business to make way for new development.

According to https://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/national/queensland/council-evicts-owner-of-landmark-queen-street-mall-newsstand-20180329-p4z6w7.html there is a new smaller newsagent space to be built opposite Wallace Bishop further up the mall and Rankins was offered that space but rejected it (claiming that the new space was too small and the deal had too many conditions attached).
Should one business (no matter what that business) take priority over streetscape improvements that will benefit everyone?

Perhaps the owners of the Newsagency may consider contacting Ray Hadley who also broadcasts on 2BC Brisbane. Ray is not backwards on taking on the Brisbane City Council if he feels that a small business is being bullied just like recently he taken on Sydney City Council when they turned around and would not grant new leases to shops who were there for many years. But you must be honest or he will not help you.
