Several newsagents from Western Australia have reported to me issues they are experiencing with magazine deliveries. At their request, I am publishing this post today, for others to comment if they are having delivery issues. If you do, please note your state.
Late trucks into Perth last week caused turned Monday/Thursday delivery for WA country newsagents into Tuesday/Friday delivery. Another late truck on the weekend means we got most of our deliveries yesterday but bulks are (hopefully) turning up today. I’ve had so many stuffups with deliveries in the last 2 months I’ve given up caring, it’s not worth the angst.

I wasn’t going to comment until I received a call from the delivery guy just now (8:15am) who said that he arrived late yesterday (after close around 7:30pm) and left my magazines at the ice cream shop across the road. The ice cream shop does not open til 10am! I’ve had several customers looking for their weekly mags which I am unable to provide at the moment and have asked customers to come in later – not ideal!
Why couldn’t he leave them in the regular spot? – locked shed behind shop – they do this every other time. I’m also not open for business when they do their regular deliveries in the middle of the night!
Late delivery due to unforseen circumstances is understandable, but how about some common sense!
Whilst I do care, it is frustrating that we have little to no control over such issues that are important to our business.

I have received four calls today about this. Three from WA an d one from QLD. Same story – parcels go missing, replacement stock never available and the process for claiming is messy and time-consuming.

It’s always been the same just the amount of cock-ups change. Toll changed the contractor on my country run a few months ago and it’s been a disaster ever since. Had to drive over a 100kms twice in a week in July to swap mags with another newsagent.
