The “Commercial Reality” is I’m in a none Rugby League state and have been supplied RLW week in and week out for years with bugger all sales, I suspect that’s the case in a large number of newsagent in southern states. Maybe if Bauer had taken a realist look at their sales and targeted distribution to where there’s demand RLW might have remained viable. To late now.

Bauer titles are remnants of the past. When I think of titles from this company I think of the 80’s and 90’s. When I think of magazines that are relevant now, titles like Breathe, Frankie, Peppermint, Flow, Mollie makes, Daphne’s Diary come to mind. Just my opinion but Bauer is not a company I will actively promote over others. Yes they do provide merchandisers and other benefits like their conference but these become irrelevant to me as a business owner when their products become irrelevant to my future. Hopefully RLW closing is also a sign of how rugby league is performing, that is also just my opinion as a non-supporter of Rugby League.

Bauer closed Autoaction only to be picker up by another publisher and now it is selling better than ever before in my shop.Customers are saying that the new format is what they want to and expect to read in the magazine. Last year Bauer decided to publish both Autoaction and Rugby League on a Monday. This was a totally stupid move as all the results from the weekend were not in it the teams for the next round could not me put in so the information was not up to date , irrelevant and out of date. Maybe someone will pick up Rugby League appoint new blood and revitalize the magazine like the Autoaction.
