Helping to drive Christmas card sales

IMG_2097Christmas counter card sales in this newsagency are up 34% year on year. They have accounted for 27.16% of all card sales in the last 14 days. Besides a good range at the entrance to the store, it is signs like this used in the business that encourage purchase. The message is a reminder about the low cost to send someone a message this Christmas.

To provide context as to the scope of the growth, this is a business doing $1,200 a day in cards alone over the 14 day analysis period.

Hate to tell you this but your sign is incorrect. It is only 65 cents to post a standard size card under 20 grams weight. That larger card under the love heading is probably $2 to post as it looks like a larger size card. Lots of people getting pulled up trying to post oversize cards for the special Christmas card rate.
If the card doesn’t have the Post Office preferred mark on the back then it’s not a 65 cent card for postage.

Maybe there could have been an asterisk with a note stating that different sized cards incur different prices in super fine print at the bottom. But in the end, who cares, it is just a sign pointing out that Christmas cards are cheaper to send then standard cards. Its all about customer awareness and in my opinion the sign works.
We have also had bumper card sales. Last year we was our best for over 5 years with already decent figures and we have beaten last years target already!
Bring on the last week when bricks and mortar stores see even more foot traffic as online shopping slows due to lack of delivery before Christmas.

There does appear to be an asterisk after the word ‘CARD’.
Perhaps that is directing to a notation further down the poster. It probably should be more obvious if that’s the case.
