Several newsagents approached me weeks ago about GNS stock supply challenges. I approached senior management at the company and was told that there were some supply issues that were now resolved. More newsagents have approached me this week about the same issue. One asked me to post about it here to see if other newsagents are currently experiencing stock supply challenges with GNS.
Over to you.
effen oath, last 2 orders took 8 days.

Chased GNS up about 3 or 4 weeks ago and they stated that the back log was due to the Diaries and Calendars being sent out.
We got our diaries the second week in October. We usually put an order in on Tuesday and it isn’t delivered to Central West NSW until the following Wednesday (If we are lucky) Being in a small town we supply a lot to other businesses and they are complaining that it is taking longer than usual and even throw back at us that “The previous owners got it within 2 days”
I was told yesterday that the sales reps are picking orders in the warehouse for shipping. How true it is, you will never know. Interesting anyway

8 day turnaround on my last 2 orders – a number of out of stock items on both orders.

According to management, most of the problems in Sydney were sorted out late last week.
They are apparently doing a relay as well to improve the efficiency of the pickers. Most commonly picked stuff closer to the front, less leg work, more efficiency.
I have had a lot of concerns and embarressing conversations with clients over delays of supply. Most of them have been very understanding, when they could have gone elsewhere….
The order I have arriving today has A LOT LESS out of stocks than the previous few months.
Hopefully this new CEO is able to turn it around…

Thanks for your feedback in relation to delivery delays and out of stocks.
We did have a period where we were severely backlogged in NSW and Victoria, and a communication was released explaining our situation.
It’s true that not only were sales reps picking and packing orders, but all senior management as well!
We take responsibility for these delays but some influences like very late diary delivery from Collins Debden (we are still waiting on some titles, and late supply of these products had a large ripple effect on the next promotion, being Christmas, which delays the next, etc), as well as huge volumes of back to school stock moving into our docks saw us get significantly behind.
I’m pleased to say we are catching up quickly and you will be seeing updates 3 times per week from now until January with further detail per state, as the sheer volume of stock movement in the Back to School period may see some shorter delays eventuate.
Fill rates are also improving and out of stocks decreasing daily. Some excellent changes to the despatch areas are being implemented, and we are creating more efficient picking processes so this is also contributing positively.
Again thank you for your feedback. Any individual issues can always be addressed with your business development manager, your state sales manager, customer service or myself at any time.

another good reason for late again due to USA election and Trump is making hard for small businesses

We had an issue with a pick up but David was fantastic and had the issue fixed asap. Structural change always has its issues and communication with stakeholders must be a high priority which has been lacking so far. Hopefully that is on the improve.

David thanks for commenting on this thread. I think it is important GNS respond here on what is clearly a concerning issue for newsagents.

Delivery times have been getting slower for years now. It used to be the case that if we ordered by 9am one morning we would have the stock by 9am the next.
The last few weeks have blown out to two weeks but prior to that it usually takes 3-4days. Not practical when we have customer orders who will go to officeworks if we can’t delivery the next day.

Hi Sarah,
let me know where you are and I will investigate. Normal delivery times for metropolitan areas, outside of very busy promotional periods, are a lot better than 3-4 days, so I need to get some detail please.

I have a major concern with Christmas stock and toys. We got our Christmas order yesterday and went thought ticking off the stock. A few toys we paid $37 for and on special retail for $49. The same product you can get retail through target etc for $19. My fault for expecting true specials and will not be caught by GNS again.

Hi Peter, we have contacted our Supplier who has advised us that this product was on Clearance by Target (purchased last year). Their website is saying they are out of stock. The supplier also advised us that this has occurred across other lines (not ranged by GNS) due to Target inventory position. Our delivery price (outside Xmas promo price) for this is $32.95. If you any questions please contact me

hi David , not wishing to be critical of GNS in a public forum , in our case , we place an order ,
each day , monday to friday , our last invoice date was 18/11/16 , nothing this week as yet,
which equates to 4 days behind ,
this delay makes it extremely hard to keep our Officesmart customers happy
