In a business meeting today I was told the health of a retail business can be determined by looking at their toilet. A clean toilet = a well run business, he said.
Easily said if your in a shopping mall and not responsible for the cleanliness of the ablutions. As the only person who uses and is responsible for my facilities I’ll be keeping them pristine in the future in anticipation of a better business and increased profitability.
The worst business toilets I have seen have been in shopping malls. The toilets at Forest Hill in Victoria were disgusting.

I have always kept the store toilet clean and well stocked out of respect for my employees. That attitude hopefully is shown through all of the business.

Mark I usually find the public toilets in shopping malls fairly well maintained. Is there a different cleaning regime behind the “Staff Only” doors?

Steve, yes. The public toilets at Forest Hill were disgusting. The staff only toilets at Forest Hill were even more disgusting.
At Westfield centres, my experience both are pretty good.

The old adage “Retail is Detail” comes to mind.
