Check out the display of The Daily Telegraph at a WH Smith store in manchester two days ago. With the water stacked up and the book stand on the side it looks junk shop like to me. I guess it works though.
The logistics and financials of these 2 offers are mind boggling. Not only are free water bottles of a greater value than the profit margin. The sheer volume of 400+ bottles means a delivery truck could handle very few stores of this size.
And…..each buyer can buy a boxed paperback for just £3.49 ……. again bulky delivery required including it seems a design stand.
No wonder the retailer had to find a vacant wall to stack it all against.

All this to sell one daily paper.
