Fail by News Corp and distribution newsagent on Herald Sun price rise

A retail newsagent in Melbourne let me know they were told of the Herald Sun price rise today by a customer. Their distribution newsagent did not advice them nor did News Corp.

Ridiculous.

We sent a letter to our subagents last week telling them of the price rise. Some of these subagents have not read the letter, and are complaining that we didn’t let them know.

The distribution agent may be experiencing issues with extracting information from the HWT website.

They would not be alone. There is an issue for some agents where regardless of what information is required, actually getting the report from the website is impossible.

Why HWT was ever talked into a system that depends on the agent having to go looking for reports that “may” apply to them, then trying to input the date ranges and route numbers that “may” apply to that report to get vital info is beyond belief. Then after all that you still may not be able to access the report you require. Seems someone at NEWS (or no longer there) thinks that agents have got all day to muck about in the HWT website, fishing for bits of info that may affect their business, often fruitlessly wasting time and getting nowhere.

What is wrong with emailing all info about price changes, promotions etc? Why do some agents get all the info they need emailed, but not others?

Years ago News/HWT was the easiest, most efficient of the major publishers to deal with.
The cumbersome, unworkable website and the stripping out of experience has rendered this notion to history.

I am a retail only newsagent but yet still have a direct supply from News I am obviously on the subagent rate but I have full control on what I get with everything . Why is it that some agents can do this while others have to rely on old mate down the road to deal with them
