Newsagents need to be careful with Star Wars products

I am told unauthorised Star Wars products were being pitched to newsagents last week. The person pitching was seeking orders, secured with a deposit. The company they claimed to be from is not an authorised Star Wars licenced product supplier. While the products could be legit – but it is hard to tell at this point – the process feels far from legit.

My advice to newsagents is to be careful. The Star wars licence will be fiercely protected,. You do not want to be caught with products that are not authorised.

Do not pay a deposit to any supplier, especially one pitching in-store for the first time without an appointment. Right there are alarm bells.

also it should be a good timely reminder about all counterfeit consumer goods, I work at a medium sized IT firm and we were offered a large amount of iphones at a reduced price, it was not till they are turned on that you realise they are fake, counterfeit. Once it was just places like ebay you had to be careful of this sort of fakery, it is turning up on shelves in Australia as well.

I have witnessed several retailers here in QLD openly selling counterfeit LEGO products (including counterfeit LEGO products based on licensed IP such as Marvel Super Heroes, DC Super Heroes, Star Wars, Ninja Turtles and others)

Not the clone brands that work with LEGO but products that directly rip-off LEGO IP/copyrights/patents in ways the clone brands dont.

Any retailer who is thinking of selling brick toys in their store should make sure they dont buy the counterfeit/bootleg product. (and more to the point, it disgusts me that retailers openly sell these things and that shopping center landlords allow it to happen)
