News Corp. needs to treat all retail newsagents the same

The bundle offer pitched by News Corp. is good in that is offers newsagents something fresh to pitch. Unfortunately, News is not pitching it consistently in the channel as it does not have direct relationships with all retail newsagents through which to track engagement and manage the accounting side.

As I expect to see more retail offers News needs to sort out its engagement with retail only newsagents who do not have a direct account. Fix this and more will engage I am sure.

Just out of curiosity how many times a year do you see a representative from News or Fairfax or even your small local papers visiting your newsagencies for whatever reason ???

Ken never in the shop from fairfax and a couple of times a year from News. we do not have direct accounts with either. I meet with News several times a year in other roles outside the retail newsagency though.

Thanks for the info. I am really surprised that large newsagencies like yours do not see more area managers or reps. In 11 years I have had 3 visits from news 2 from our local paper [and that was only trying to get me to advertise] and 0 from Fairfax. If I had a product to sell I would be engaging with as many of my retailers as I could and as often as I could to discuss ways and means of lifting circulation numbers, after all we are the ones engaging the public and hearing their complaints.
