Throwing away the newspaper

trashpapersI noticed a customer rifling through our stand of the Sunday Herald Sun yesterday. I offered to help. They said they wanted one with a TV guide. Sure enough the copy on the top had the TV guide – as they all do. They paid for the newspaper, walked out of the shop and over to the bin in the mall in front where they retrieved the nTV guide and threw away the rest of the newspaper. I am shocked they would pay so much for the TV guide. Customers can be a mystery.

About 60% I think to people who say they want it for the TV guide. Of course there are lots of other ways to find out what is on TV these days. I reckon a lot of these pple use the TV guide as an excuse and they really want to buy the paper as well. It is so ordinary and trashy that they don’t want to admit they WANT to read it!

You don’t know how lucky you are to be saying this
‘the copy on the top had the TV guide – as they all do’
They should but ours often don’t!
We rarely have a Sunday that doesn’t have one or two home delivery customers phone because their TV guide was NOT in their paper (Telegraph) we regularly have one or two bulk missing the TV guide, but our customers know to check now before they leave the shop.

I work in a newsagency and only buy the Sunday Mail for the travel section. I do bring the entire paper home with me but it’s rare if it gets touched again.
