Coles has launched a series of home branded crossword titles priced at $2 each. They are published for Coles by Hinkler. I’m not sure who creates the actual crosswords. I wonder if this move will challenge pocket allocations for Lovatts or Puzzler titles in Coles supermarkets. If the Coles treatment of other suppliers in response to home brand moves is anything to go by I suspect it will.
This isn’t something new, they have been out for months at our coles in Newcastle.
its more likely from a publisher for coles.
Greed again.!!! They just want everything dont they?. What possible gain will there be to their bottom line? But they will place another business under pressure. Perhaps the publishers of other puzzle books will consider whether they should be supplying their products to the big guys ???.
Maybe Lovatts and Puzzler might be sorry that they went into the duopoly in the first place.
They are absolutely ruthless when it comes to % sales. They probably saw incremental sales of c/w mags and made outside arrangements (much like they did
to the farmers produce).
Lovatts supply all the puzzles to Hinkler
