In Adelaide yesterday I saw plenty of collateral in newsagencies promoting the Attenborough DVDs. We got none of this – reflecting the disconnect between News Corp. and retail only newsagencies in Victoria.
several of my newsagency subagents were visited by News Ltd rep’s last week and had promotional material similar to this put up in their store.
In the past I would agree with you about the disconnect between News and retailers, but with the appointment of rep’s to service retailers about 6 or 12 months ago (as opposed to the rep’s appointed to service distributors), I now have to disagree with your view.
Dean that sounds like a good experience. I don’t want a billboard display. Just something tactical.

Agree Dean, we are a subagent and this year have been receiving visits by a very engaged and helpful rep. She supplied posters, wobblers and foot print stickers for the floor. We have never had this direct attention from Newscorp and it is appreciated. Even prior to this promotion we were noticing a slight up lift in paper sales.

We had extra collateral, cut out penguin and foot print decals, dropped off by rep, but we only get extra posters to give to our subs.
I saw a newsagency at an eastern suburbs railway yesterday who had the next 4 days DVDs (2 to 5) sitting in piles above papers with a price sticker on them. Not a poster in sight, obviously doesn’t care about using this promotion to sell more papers.
Maybe newsagents should be asked if they want to be part of this promotion then give more stock to those who engage better rather than waste on newsagents who don’t give a toss.
Paper could read ‘available at all good newsagents’.

It would be good it I new where mine had got too? They are missing in transit. I received the first one only. We only got posters but it is the usual regulars that are ordering the DVDs with one extra order that will I am sure be cancelled once she has got all the DVDs. Should say if we get them .
