I was fortunate last night to experience first-hand the help Lotterywest provides to its retail partners. In their Perth head office last night, Lotterywest hosted a workshop on newsagency management for a small group of their retailers.
This session covered loss prevention, supplier management, newsagency management and a range of other topics. It was 100% about how to run a more successful business and not about selling more lottery products.
Lotterywest are to be commended for their support of their retail network in organising and hosting sessions like this and other business management sessions through they year.
Sounds a lot better than the meeting I attended last Monday organised by Golden Casket (Tatts). Pure propaganda with no chance of questions, no deviation from a script. It was advertised to start at 7:00 pm eventually commencing at 7:22..
Steve I hear you. When I was a Tatts agent I lost too much time in one-sided meetings that achieved little. Lotterywest acts as a genuine partner in helping agents grow their businesses. Great stuff!

Tatts do nothing like this. They suck all they can from their franchisees and do not put back into the business. They make it very difficult to operate.
I hope the WA Government read the above comments. Lotterywest is unique, not only do they support retailers they support the WA Community distributing millions of dollars in grants.
I hope that if the WA government ever starts talking seriously about selling off Lotterywest that newsagents lobby hard against it.
