I like the approach by fashion stationery retailer Typo to censoring greeting cards with words that may offend. The sticker not only censors the worrying word, it draws attention to the card on the card rack, thereby driving shopper interest. It also shows those customers who might be offended that the company respects their views. This is a win win.
I must admit I censored one of the Spirit Cards and placed a piece of card with Adults only in front of it. The pink balloon was a little prominent. We sold out very quickly. I did find some little kids having a giggle and sneaky peak too. So much for me screening them.
