There is a slower pace with shoppers today, the first day of a three-day weekend (everywhere in Australia except for Western Australia). And fewer shoppers too. But they are spending, because there is not the usual Saturday rush that we see. I expect we will end the day ahead in dollars but down in traffic. I’m okay with that.
When I say it’s one of those weekends, I mean it is a holiday weekend without a purpose that retailers can easily tap into … commercialise.
We had a fantastic day yesterday (bad weather) sold more magazines in one day than we have for ages.
Unfortunately today was a beautiful sunny winters day and our shop was very quiet. Sales were way down on last years June long weekend Saturday.
With predicted sunny weather tomorrow I’m expecting a slow Sunday.

A slow day for traffic for us, but our lotto sales were marginally above the average Saturday and shop sales fell just a whisker short of the 10 week average for Saturday.
Did want to take one “customer” out for a belting though. When I mentioned she had purchased our last copy of BHG she said “Yes, I went in to the supermarket first to see if they had one”.
I had to go out the back for a minute to keep my cool.
So, a good day, but looking forward to a 2 day RnR. Enjoy the day off everyone. 🙂

Yes carmen, a day off. We trade 6 days and in people friendly SA, no trade on public holidays. So a long weekend for me and a quick trip to visit her family in Brisbane for my partner.
YAY for SA not succumbing to the shops must be open mantra!
