Several newsagents contacted me yesterday saying that cuts in circulation by the publisher saw them sell out of the Adelaide Advertiser before lunchtime.
Too often, we hear of situations where newsagents advise what they need and publishers, in their wisdom, disagree and sales are lost as a result.
Hi Mark,
In my case, Easter Sunday was not looking good when I looked at forward publishing figures on the Wednesday before. I was able to put a case forward and local Advertiser bloke Pav made the adjustment for me.
Then just yesterday I ask local guy KW to make a large upward adjustment for me for this coming Friday. KW came back to me and asked if I’d forgotten it was a PHol. Shame on me to overlook the coming Anzac Day – multiple recent family illnesses hadn’t helped the stress levels – (that’s my excuse & I’m sticking by it) :). So the Anzac day Draw adjustment was re-adjusted. Thanks again KW.
In discussions, KW pointed out to me that Draw numbers for the Easter period and the days following were all worked out by the local crew and all based on similar sales for last year. He pointed it out because I wanted to apportion some blame to iServices, the new system that is causing so much heartache in this state.
I will stick by my belief that someone somewhere got the Easter Sunday numbers wrong, but overall, my experience with Advertiser Newspaper Staff in this period has been highly favourable.

Thursday April 24, Advertisers cut by 25%.
Sold out by 1pm, with 8 hours still to trade. Customers reporting other outlets in our centre sold out also.
On the upside I made up for the $2.34 in lost margin, by filling the space with gift lines, making an additional $32.65 for the day.
