We are leveraging the hype around the launch of the Man of Steel movie with placement of Empire in the usual location for the title and with weeklies – this is an issue that will appeal to people beyond those who usually purchase Empire.
The hype surrounding this movie is extraordinary – hence our off-location placement chasing impulse purchases.
Empire is a title I watch, so I can place good covers and get the extra sale. Another interesting title is “Vintage Rock”, unfortunately it’s pinky/puce cover this time does not attract the older male rockers that were asking me for the title
before it came out.
Hint to publishers : Good covers SELL magazines. Don’t do “puce” for anybody.
Hint to newsagents : placement in store sells mags too. I read here on this blog about the Organic Gardener Special Issue : Chooks, and was disappointed to see that ?Jenny had almost sold out and I had moved 5 copies out of 30 in 8 days ( am also town but lots of “rural” customers/interests.
SO, I repositioned the title …… and have now sold 22 out of 30.
Today I sold a bunch of financial year diaries – so tomorrow we dedicate a front area to “Get Organised For the New Financial Year” ( made signs, gave staff a challenge…)
