We are promoting the new Barbie partwork on the lease line, facing into the mall. Our weekend traffic is such that we’d expect to achieve most sales of this new title on the weekend – hence the placement.
We’re hoping that the Barbie brand will drag kids and their parents towards us who otherwise might not check us out in this visit to the centre.
Wwas this an opt in partworks because i have not been allocated anything for it . I was telling customers about it all week then come friday nothing .

I think there was an email explaining that delivery will occur over 3 days different delivery days. Not all agents will get it on the same day. Not sure why – it may have something to do with it’s size.

Yes, it’s a split delivery.

I found this out while down loading Mondays files .

I was disappointed to only receive 20 and expected we’d run out by Saturday but they are just not selling. Is this because Barbie is over 50 now and no longer hot?

Our sales are below expectation too.

Have a look for what you can buy thats Barbie branded online and of similar offering and look at the price of this offering and I think you’ll see the reason parents aren’t going to commit to something such as this long term.

they should have started with the barbie doll first then added the accessories

This barbie partwork has a nice kick in the tail.In the launch email there was a line which sald”Note:no actual doll in the collection”.

Rick, Steve, that was the reaction from every one of our team. Not having a doll in issue 1 is a big mistake. Not having one at all is a colossal fuck up.
Having said that, Barbie isnt what she used to be with kids and it’s not a brand that will have a huge number of adult nostalgic/collector purchasers.

The most successful partworks for us are always the “educational but fun” (rocks, bones, Dora, etc) and the “adult hobby” (art of crochet, build the whatever, etc).
Where are the innovative new releases in these categories?

Yep it’s a failure. Sold a whole 5 over a very busy weekend. You can buy a barbie outfit in Big W for $10, more funky, bright and even skanky.
I think these are a bit old fashioned for today’s little misses.
Crochet, knitting and baking will do me for part works.

The TV may not have started.

no doll what the ?
might put the no doll collection with the no house house collection series . You could sell them as a pair, a whole heap of furniture with no where to put it and a whole heap of clothes with nothing to put them on , maybe in the doll house there is a somewhere to hang it all up in . Imagine the rock gen and treasure part works with no ROCKS and just paper work telling you about the rocks with pictures .
This will be a failure with a capital F, now I am glad they only sent the 6

Mark, I don’t think TV will make much difference, we had ours in a bin outside shop for 3 days, as well as two other highly visible locations and it didn’t cause any excitement.
Shauns, you are hilarious.

Same here Jenny. Had our right at the front of the store on a large 6 full-facing display as well as in a secondary location inside the store. Sales as at the end of Sunday were 5 copies.

Got 40 Barbie #1 on 31/5, sold none, got 40 again today.
Hmmmmmmm…..
Did get 2 more of Rocks #1 though, only 15 more back orders to go ! I’m sure there must be some internet faux fact that there is real gold worth millions in those little vials, we are being phoned every day by people chasing #1, it is weird.
