On the back of a sell through of less than 50% for People magazine, the allocations system / allocations people at Bauer have given us a 25% increas in our supply. There is no reason for any increase in our sales data. Indeed, a decrease in supply is warranted. So, I ask the question of other newsagents: has your supply of People magazine been increased without justification?
I’d rather not write a blog post like this. I’d rather not have the experience of a supply increase without justification in the sales data, sales data I provide to Bauer daily. I’d rather not have these mistakes occur – if they are mistakes. I’d rather not be put in a position where I think that publishers do this because they want newsagent cash to fund their businesses.
It’s not too much to ask to be supplied fairly based on the accurate data I provide.
Same supply here, 7 copies, never sell more than 5.
My supply is ok. I have 2 left on the shelf.
Fine here. Our supply is 7 (was 8) and we usually sell 1 and 3 thru subs.
Ooops (was 8) Don’t know where that happy face came from, must be because all my home deliveries went well today!
It was a double issue ? i think at $4.95 ?
We early returned 30. Our order was increased by 30 over the preceding weeks. Had I known (had Bauer told me) I probably would have not returned so many and given some extras to my subagents.
We sell 1-2 per week, allocations have increased to 9. This is not the only title. Across the board NDC has increased allocations over the past few months.
Mark,
Been consistent at 70 copies per week from 1/1/2013.
Sell through is a bit low but not complaining.
John
Bill you’re putting a fake email address in the website field. Please stop.
Supply of people is one mag we do not seem to be over supplied with but almost every week we have one short in our bundle. I wonder who in the supply chain gets theirs free or is this happening on a broard scale across newsagencies?
My supplies of People have actually dropped to the point where I have sold out of each of the last 8 issues (excepting 1 copy of the current issue which is unsaleable). I am finding this supply drop is happening to many of my weeklies and a few other magagzines that I normally sell well – all to the detriment of sales – and yet other titles which have never sold or have not sold well historically are suddenly being increased. It’s almost like Bauer have copied the formula Gotch uses.
Carol, quite a while back we had the same problem – one missing picture mag + people mag from each delivery – but once we contacted Followmont, the problem mysteriously stopped.
Wendy sold out of WD and Tv week all same supplier and bucklys chances of getting any this week .
I hear you shauns, and after all these years of Network supplying us overly generously with the weeklies, it’s a bit of a shock to the system.
