I’ve put together a quick survey for retail newsagents about newspapers – how we treat them and what we’d like to help us sell more product. Please click on the link to take the survey – it will only take a minute.
Newspaper publishers are predictable in their promotional activity both with the product and in coupling the product with junk food and other items as the freebie. I’d like to see newspaper publishers more creatively engage with retail newsagents to foster engagement with the product for its inherent value.
Please take the survey and share your thoughts. I will share the results here.
This was probably the best place to post my comment and it may only really apply to shopping centre agents…
Do you really want to know how often Customers visit your store and how many new customers visit your store on a daily basis? Do you really want to know how often “regular” customers actually visit your store?
Well I have a fool proof 100% gauranteed way of knowing all of these answers……….
……move your Newspapers!
It has been 3 months since our shopfit and everyday, people are still asking “where`s your papers”…!

Allan,
You might have the same customers that I have. I get customers ( that I know come in at least once a week ), still ask me, ” where is the such and such paper”. My response is sometimes ” the same spot it has been since a fire in this shop 100 years ago”. These customers were born here and grew up here. I must admit my memory is going as welll !!

It can be very hard sometimes to explain things to customers without sounding rude…
Customer. “Can you give me the oz lotto results”
Me. ” they are next to your right hand in the box marked oz lotto results Mrs Smith.”
Customer. ” I must be blind today”
Me. (In my head) ” only today?”
