We’ve struggled with Easter Eggs so this year are going for a more dramatic and engaging Easter display. In the box we have some Beanie Ballz ready for placement in what we hope will be a fun and enticing Easter display. We’re on a bit of a mission with this, bringing in fake grass, showing off our Easter plush and other products in a fun situation.
We have always struggled with Easter so
for the last couple of years I have had a
friend make candy easter eggs (which she
does for her local Church) and we have gradually increased our supply from 20
to 150 eggs (@ $9.95 each.
However, the catch is we are not selling them for us but to dig wells in South Africa for communities. We use photos
of the children etc for this and it has been
most successful. Our customers love the
old fashioned candy eggs (beautifully wrapped and presented in cellophane and ribbon) but we get the rub off of goodwill
and our Easter cards have increased exponentially during the last two years where previously it was a very small event for us.
The customers like the appeal and everyone wins.

As much as I detest the stuff, the cheaper Easter craft/novelty lines are always a big seller for us. Its difficult to display (or at least display well), but the demand is there and the margin is good.
Plush, on the other hand, has always been a difficult sell for us at Easter.
Easter cards … well, they hardly pay for the space they take up. A very clear reflection of our young demographic.
I hope Hallmark’s giftbag range is good this year. It’s such an easy way to increase basket size. Some seasons it’s great (the last Christmas selection was the best ever), others its atrocious (like Valentines Day just gone).
