1,200 newsagents are set to be sent a small quantity of stock of The Submissive, an erotic novel in the vein of Fifty Shades of Grey. It’s being allocated to Nexus newsagents and some other key newsagent accounts through Gotch.
This is an excellent commercial opportunity: 50% margin, sale or return and delayed billing. Cover price: $16.99. Newsagents will get stock at launch.
The Submissive is set to get excellent media attention at launch. It’s covered in New Idea this week. It has received some excellent reviews overseas.
I like that we have an opportunity to offer a product to Fifty Shades fans and to do this on terms equal to book retailers. I plan to pitch this as a Christmas gift.
Sounds great, if it’s anything like 50 shades it will sell well.
Love the authors name!

We received them too.Old, scratched, faded and you can see where the old stickers have been. Cannot sell even if I wanted too.
Why do we get upset with distributors and early return product !!!
What is going on???

While I will sell this book that will be coming from GG it should not be coming from a magazine distributor they should concentrate on mags and that’s it !no toys no stamps no cards just plain old magazines ,get that right and then maybe they could move onto other items BUT they do not get that right so why are they mucking around with these other items .

Have to disagree on the book issue Shaun. We haven’t had a supplier on new books for years now so the opportunity to stock a book like this is greatly appreciated. While the distributors do send a number of lines they should leave to us to source, books at a good margin are an ideal fit with magazines.

I have been looking for the reviews on this book but i cannot find many positive ones but then again i did find a heap of negative ones for 50 shades while searching and that one turned out to be a hit .

Both Gotch & Network are wll placed to do Book distribution. Its just another product. Ive noticed NSC have ramped up their firm sale offerings for books through direct emails and the weekly e-newsletter. Theres some good stuff there at good margins/buy prices that i wouldn’t be able to get off other suppliers. I’ll certainly welcome & sell this book from Gotch leading up to Xmas – The sale or return & 50% margin is excellent. Good margin & little risk.

I too was happy to be included in the Gotch rollout of this book but was a bit bemused with the heavy handed trading term agreement that was packed with the books. I am concerned that as a newsagent again I have NO controll over the numbers and whilst we have extended trading terms our return timing and authorisation terms (on a product I had no conrol over numbers) is a tad off putting. Why can’t Gotch have a similar system to Network where we get offered on a first come first served basis with there firm sale offers.
That beig said let’s hope it walks off the shelf!

I orderd in a copy of 50 shades of grey for a guy last week (buy them now for 4.99 ) and the funniest thing ever he comes in today for a refund , apparently his plan didn’t work out and the wife is still not in the mood .
