WHO discounted 60%

I am disheartened to see WHO being discounted by 60% off the cover price to $99 for 51 issues delivered to your home or office for just $99.

While I understand subscriptions play a role in the magazine distribution model, I see no reason to make one channel so much cheaper than another, especially a channel that invests time, real estate and opportunity in promoting brands so ready to launch steep discounts.

Bill I think that’s shortsighted. I want to sell what I can sell. We need to represent to them the hurt we feel at this action.

If you have a look at the offer it’s potentially greater than 60% as if yu get three other people to also subscribe the initial subscriber pays nothing !

I might have to use 3 proxy emails and subscribe 4 times for myself. It’s one way to boost the GP magazines provide.

It’s such a pity they couldn’t think to offer us a better deal as I would have certainly pushed promoting it for only 40% rather than the usual 25% we get. I wonder if the lack of an offer to newsagents is tied into the costs of distribution which means there’s no more to give ?

I believe one of them charges $1 for outbound deliveries plus 75 cents for full returns or something very similar. I would suspect ACP wouldn’t get charged that by Network but thats about what the independants or smaller publishers, I have been told, pay depending upon how hard they’ve negotiated.

its early in the month, returns will come off the bill, use the extra copies to do a razzle dazzle dispay at the counter, might just sell a couple of extra copies, no real damage done except having to top a couple of extra copies if they dont sell.
over supply is rife, we all klnow it, but cant see it changing in the near term, so dont lose any sleep over it anymore

Shaun the best people for you to talk to are Pacific. Why not give them a call. I suspect there is a reason for this given a new promotion running.

After a speaking with Nexus i now realise i was wrong to say i was over supplied with my Who magazine and home beautiful . Sometimes it probally pays to look into issues like this before going off about it .
