Interesting discussion on magazine covers

Check out A Blog About Magazines and the discussion on magazine covers. They mention the competition for attention in a newsagency and that publishers could be better off creating simpler covers like frankie. frankie stands out because it is simple against a sea of intensive covers.

The covers given as examples look great. The would be absolutely brilliant as full facings.

Very interesting article, thanks for sharing. Where do you think our covers fit in the simple scale?

Not so ,much with all the text on there. That’s not a judgement since the text is probably more appropriate in your niche.

This highlights how all the extra text etc detracts form a very strong cover especially the Harpers Bazzar cover in my opinion.
Interesting that the Marie Claire subscribers cover looks like the Frankie cover and has the same strong impact. Make a wall of simpler covers and the individual titles would all stand out in their own right as opposed to the usual over done attack on our visual senses that happens at present.
