The BBC earth series being run promoting the Herald Sun newspaper is popular. It’s driving traffic and generating good sales. This is a smart promotion for a newspaper to run, better than the movie and other giveaways which newspapers in the UK used for years. This series is all about knowledge … as I said, smart for a newspaper.
Our newspaper and DVD sales have been helped buy the large cutout of a penguin which the folks at the Herald Sun organised for us. We have had this at the front of the newsagency, in various locations, facing into the mall – to show our connection with the well advertised promotion.
HWT was meant to deliver Tuesday and Wedneday’s DVD’s to Melbourne newsagents on Monday morning. They have not arrived, and I have been advised that hopefully they will be delivered to us Tuesday morning.
This leaves us with the task of having to pay someone at our cost to come in specially to make them up and possibly deliver some of the DVD’s separate to the main paper delivery. As I have already organised someone to come in today to help make them up leaves me out of pocket. Will HWT provide reimbursement? I should send in a late delivery claim and see what happens.
Worse still will be if the DVD’s don’t arrive tomorrrow, in which case I will forward my phone directly to HWT. I don’t want to have to explain to hundreds of customers and sub-agents why HWT failed to deliver the DVD that is advertised on the front page of their paper.
If we screwed up like this I can guarantee that I would be called in to explain myself. If they screw up, all you get is an apology if you are lucky.
