Sales of Game Informer magazine increased by 54.97% in the latest audit to December 2011. That is a massive increase for what is for newsagents a special interest title. This growing popularity, ahead of the pack of other growth titles, means that we need to take more notice of and care with Game Informer. Give it hero treatment and this will help us drive sales even more.
I see titles delivering excellent sales growth as low hanging fruit opportunities – they will be easier for us to grow sales in our stores. So the success list is a target list for me.
Mark – I gave this magazine a push when I promoted the entire games category at Christmas with little results. The category did “ok” but little sales return with Game Informer.
My 15 year old son then suddenly started receiving it in mail – to my shock horror he gets a free copy (yes free) as he is a member of the EB Games club. Maybe this is how they have increased by 50%. Do they also sell it in EB Games stores well?
How is everyone else finding the title – have your sales increased in line with the 50% stated?
I have only sold 1-2 copies on average for the last 6 months (sold no more than 2 on any month)- I am finding the high cover price import games titles tend to do better at at a higher RRP I get better net return.
