Somebody or some system at Gordon & Gotch has decided we should start receiving Hustler magazine. The first issue arrived in-store yesterday. We returned it yesterday as well. This is not a title which could be sent. It’s not a title we want to have in our newsagency. We can understand others would. However, we feel that it does not reflect what we consider appropriate in this particular location. It is appalling that Gotch would send the title without consultation. I recall years ago that a representative of Gotch told me that they would not send pornography without express permission of the newsagent.
You made a right decision rejecting the magazine.
I’m with you Mark. Any title showing pornography (and this includes People and Picture, theyare probably the wost due to not being sealesd) is cancelled from our deliveries as they are not suitable for any family oriented business. IMHO they should only be supplied if requested and never on an automatic basis. I am not a prude by any means, but we do hold our business to certian standards.

Brendan you might want to get rid of wd,ni who,ralph,nafa zoo,pretty much all the magazines off your shelf that have any bikini wearing ladys on the front cover not to mention all of the fitness magazines where blokes have no shirts on.
Shaun, bums and boobs are fine, I draw the line at male or female genitalia, that is porn in my books.
ok i get what you are saying , if it is a sealed bag that might be ok because the front covers do not show these things .
Gotch has no data on which to base their decision to send us this magazine, none whatsoever. Yet send it they did.
We sell Picture / People and even the Picture Premium, all of which, while still porn, are fairly mainstream porn. But apparently Gotch thinks that titles like Over 40s, Just 18 and MILF will be fine too. Am I the only one that thinks this is a different kettle of fish? Just 18 should not be allowed into the country let alone onto shelves in shops. It plays obviously on the youth of the girls and is blatantly paedophilic. Titles like this go straight back.
Vicki, full frontal is still porn and material that I feel uncomfortable displaying in a business where I want to attract women and children. Picture, people etc are ok for servos ect but not for my business.
I agree they’re porn, no question. And we do display them well away from the womens mags and above child eye level. I refuse however to stock the hardcore and kinky stuff. They can go online for that.
As we’re the only magazine stockist in a small country town we have to cater to the whole community. And that includes the guys as well as the women, kids and oldies. If we didn’t it would be a matter of time before the servo or the deli made moves to stock mags too.
