Promoting Donna Hay magazine

We are promoting the latest issue of Donna Hay magazine with this in-location display.

While space is a challenge with all the Christmas titles in-store, we have found room for a week for this double waterfall display to help drive early sales of the title.

Once this display comes down we will support the title in week two with a pocket located with our weekly titles, in a busier part of the newsagency.  Our Donna Hay sales are somewhat volatile meaning that we need to work hard to keep them up – hence the additional attention.

I know this is probably “off topic” and I don’t know how to create my own topic
here so I will continue and let someone
else tell me what to do next time.
This morning I received 1 copy of Zoo and
it was impeccably wrapped with cardboard
either side of it and it produced a very nicely presented product (which I very very rarely sell)
Also this morning I received a bundle of
magazines that were airfreight copies (average price $17) and the top and bottom copies were totally unsaleable.
There was NO CARE TAKEN IN WRAPPING.
The strapping was directly onto the magazines and the bottom copy (1 only)
was a large wine magazine that was ripped
    to shreds.
I so resent having to pay for the product
as well as put it into returns immediately because it is unsaleable in its arrival condition.
It is careless, mediocre and lacks attention
    to detail.
IPS on the other hand have, in SA, since inception wrapped all mags impeccably with
posters on the top and bottom of the parcels (how we have done it for 33 years).
I am sure the publishers of some of these
mags would be horrified if they saw the condition of arrival of some of their product.
Surely this is purely and simply “attention
    to detail”.
Every delivery day is the same. Mags arrive with broken strapping, missing mags, and careless delivery (broken pieces on partworks which are (unbelievably packed rolled over and strapped. Straight to the returns bins they go and sales are missed — sad and
    fixable!!

Agreed Mark, if it is a time to sell lots of Donna Hay, it could be this month, not sure why it is erratic.

June – very big problem, nearly every week it happens like you describe, also put in wet product. I am sure it has something to do with Job & finish mentality also.

re Donna Hay this month – walked out the door last week – was it the cool temperatures and the cookies on the cover ? who knows, I also find DH sales up and down…, but current issue is a winner in my store ( I put rolls of cello and gift boxes nearby too – hint hint).

Likewise the Mini Christmas cookbook, did well.

NEXT WEEK I switch to gift ideas for men to give and receive – the chocs and tizzie stuff to give, the Man Project/Science/Politics/Economy/IToy of the year mags
for the hard to buy for bloke who still dreams he can DO IT and GO THERE ! lol

re arrival of stock in unsaleable condition: my new year’s resolution is to take digital photos and find someone to forward them to – won’t be too hard to do 1 – 3 per week.
