Newsagents had trouble contacting magazine distributor Network Services yesterday for the handling of queries, extra copy requests and the like. The Network Services website had problems from mid morning and the best newsagency could achieve was to hear a recorded message when they called the Network help desk.
Newsagents need to lodge missed stock, damaged stock and reorder requirements by Monday to be certain of receiving stock by Wednesday.
Just got an email from Network letting me know I’m on covers only returns now!! Yay! Cuts the cost right back as I can’t deliver them myself.

I’d really like to know why some newsagents are allowed tops only returns. We are 5 hours from Sydney and spend about 2% of our magazine sales on freighting back box after box of full copy and bagged magazines and yet we have consistently been refused tops only returns. Go figure!

Grats to you that’s great news. I will be dropping them another email myself on the back of that.
It has been a bit of a crusade for me since returning to Newsagency business. Top only returns that is lol

Shayne,
Its been a long road for us too. We’ve been asking for the last 2 years. We’d started dropping them off at the depot ourselves every month when we go to Perth for meetings etc. But some months we’d still have to post them. The depot didn’t like us doing them in bulk but the savings were worth it; not worth a special trip to Perth (4hour drive) but ok if we were going anyway.
That said, I think this new ruling applied to several newsagencies, not just us. Why not argue the point with them again, based on the fact that they’ve made this change in WA? Worth a call or email anyway.
