We are promoting The Block one shot in each of my newsagencies. The respective teams have done a terrific job – if I do say so myself. They are using the title to leverage advertising and pull traffic and to drive impulse business with high impact as well as tactical displays.
In this terrific display, one of my stores is promoting The Block on the column facing into the shopping mall, leveraging excellent out of store traffic. Click on the image for a larger version. I love the additional visual merchandising materials they have employed (from the Reject Shop) to bring the display to life.
In this display, in another of my stores, they have a main counter based display for The Block which they have kicked up with additional creative collateral created in-store to connect with the theme of the TV show (a block of homes) and the magazine. Again, click on the image for a larger version.
Given that ACP is promoting that this title is available in newsagencies, I’d encourage all newsagents to get behind it.
Its a great magazine and terrific timing. We had the POS up and the mag on our counter display by 530 am Monday. We had sold our allocation by mid afternoon. We tried to order more but none available. Hopefully there is not an oversupply at Coles or Woolies or we might have to have a whinge (again) .

The magazine is being promoted on the TV show as being available from newsagents – no other options given!

Small shop also – received 18. We have them on prime display and have sold 1 only so far – hopefully this will improve with the publicity from the final this weekend.

I just got a reply from from Network and can’t get any. Customers are asking for it and I’m sure we could have sold a dozen by now. Very #@%*)%# frustrating!!!!
How do they work out their allocations?

Brendan as you are a new account for Network you won’t be in the system for 1 shots and similar. You need to get onto them and sort it out. They must go on previous sales of similar catergory titles and as you have no sales history you get no stock. This would have been the same as with Symply too good.

That’s fine Mary but I don’t know of these issues being delivered until after they are issued and then there is no more stock available.
As you say, having already queried and been supplied Symply 2 Good, I would have expected this matter to have been attented to by Network. Now I’ve had the problem twice and queried it twice with them should I expect to miss out next time?

You should not miss out and they should be doing something to make sure.
See if Mark can get his contacts to look into for you.The sales you have missed are gone and through no fault of yours. There must be something that can be done, you wouldn’t be alone in this sort of situation.

I am certainly chasing stock. There will be some from the newsagents who early returned this title.

Mark,
apparently i am having trouble with my magazine data getting back to Network and therefore the SBR is not kicking in on most titles. Do you thin this would be an x-change issue or POS issue ? I will be looking into it today and let people know what i find, this could be the case for many agents out there.

We received no allocation initially. Emailed them Monday, no response and have rung this morning and was pleasantly surprised that I got through straight away (Wednesday morning and all). Should be receiving stock by Friday. Luckily, we have other stores that we could transfer stock from…………
