Newsagents who are wondering about all the Symply Too Good To be True stock which they received yesterday need to know that the titles will feature in two upcoming issues of Take 5. The Symply cookbooks will also not be billed until September, giving us until October 20 to move the stock.
We are getting in early in one of my newsagencies with this triple pocket display featuring Symply Too Good to be True #1 through #6 on an impulse unit which faces shoppers as they enter the store.
We will replace this with a fresh promotion for the range when the Take 5 promotion hits.
Our sales data indicates that half the sales of these cookbooks include two or more editions. The key is to display them together.
It would be great if ndc could communicate these things with the rest of the newsagent world and not just some . why is it the only way to find out things is on this blog

As a relatively new arrival my observation is that the suppliers generally use electronic communication in the most arcane way. The preponderence of bulletin boards ( eg connect, connections etc) as the major means of communication is a clear indication that the supplier community embraced digital communication in the mid 90s and haven’t evolved since.
If we want to know what’s going on in regard to any of our key suppliers we have to visit their bulletin board. This means proactively going to the time consuming effort of checking 6-8 bulletin boards every day. Whereas in a modern environment you just check your email. issue You probably have been informed and you just don’t know it because you haven’t looked in all of the nooks and crannies in the bulletin boards.

I thought at first this was just a cash grab but with the delayed billing it gives us time to push the title risk free. It’s a good promo to run for once and I’ll give credit to network for doing it this way as it’s not often the mag companies get it right but delayed billing this time is great.

Delayed billing i would say only came into effect after the complaints started .. otherwise we would have had this email before the stock turned up .
I will keep them now and hopefully sell a fair few but with out the delayed billing they where going in the bin .

Shauns,
This is a fantastic title! Annette Sym is really supportive of the newsagent channel. Why not ask Annette if she would be willing to autograph a copy of No 6 for you and do a giveaway (entry with purchase of magazines, for example). Or do a cookup of one of her recipes – we recorded over 100 sales in 3 hours by doing a cooking demonstration in store. We’ve also asked Annette for permission to distribute copies of one of her recipes to promote the books.

Sarah , i am not saying it is not a good book or they are not good sellers , it is the way it is handles by the distibutors is what i am not happy about . i have way more stock than i have sold in the last 3 years . how can they justify sending such huge amonts so that it no longer makes it not profitable to keep (this was before they decided to make it delayed billing)

We didn’t get any and have customers asking for them, go figure.

That is why the Newsagency channel will survive. Re:Post 6 Sarah

Shaun,
What do you actually propose? Carrier pigeon mail direct to your door?
I got a bundle flyer, and an email (both clearing stating delay billed).
Seems like a pretty good communication plan to me for this great release.. Well done again Annette!

Jeff when did you get this email ????? before or after delivery ???????
I am saying yes i winged before the email was sent and the email should have come before the stock , hey the technology is there to do it …….
If i did not find out once again on here that it ws delayed billing i would have topped the lot of it , i will not put up with over supply like this from anyone i do not care how much Annette !!!! is good for you .
Jeff i sell aprox 100 copies of bacon busters does that automatically mean you shopuld also get 100 copies or even more just because it ius a success for me ??
Once again i will say i am keeping the book but only because of the delayed billing , i have my own business to fund and network can fund there own !!

Shaun,
One ? per question will suffice. Don’t do a coronary ..
100 Bacon Busters ? I can see why the cookbooks won’t work up in FNQ. Unless Annette has a recipe for deer, boar and any other maimed beast..
The communication as I stated was fine from my view, same with the allocation. You don’t agree ? That’s ok.
Do us all a favour and write something constructive or if you can’t do that at least helpful to your peers. I’m dumber for the experience each time I read your grammatically challenged dribble.

No worries Jeff . I am glad for you to keep track of where i am up in FNQ . I must really interest you for you to even know where i am .

Jeff,
Do you like insulting everyone ! I would hate to see how you treat your customers .
I will be keeping the Symply cookbooks on the shelf.
I did not received any flyer with my mags.
The email came out after the magazines were distributed.
The EDI file did not match NDC’s pattern for delayed billing.
NDC should have advised us before the mags were distributed. As the date on the invoice matched the day we received the mags- I can only guess that they were not going to delay bill this title.
On top of all this – Has enyone tried reordering any of these cookbooks.? I tried yesterday using all sorts of spelling and Netonline could not find them. I have sold out of some of the books
PS Bacon Busters is a great seller here and I am in NSW. I tried getting more just after it came out and there is none left.
Jeff, Feel free to insult my spelling and grammar
