Intralot defends itself against Today Tonight / Herald Sun attack

Kudos to Intralot for yesterday writing to its outlets to share the facts behind a story reported on Today Tonight on Monday and in the Herald Sun yesterday.  Comparing the facts in the letter, which can be verified, with what these two news outlets reported leaves you wondering about their interest in fact checking.

Given the shocking stories about the actions by News International newspapers in the UK I am finding myself more suspicious of news stories, especially those with an attack angle.

what is the dispute then? intralot says its not a winner, but the player says it is?

obviously it is not a clear case?

    was there a mis print?

Check out the letter (follow the link). There does appear to be a difference of opinion. This is why it goes to the independent umpire which Intralot has said it will respect. Not that the media outlets cared.

So your telling me newspapers and current affairs show will stretch the truth to make sales? You could have knocked me over with a feather.

Some people just should not be allowed to play anything but the most simple scratchies ie match 3 and win, we have people come in arguing they have won but have simple not read the instructions or have misread the numbers. Then like this joker they tell all and sundry that WE ripped them off not that they are too simple to understand the game.
Does he think that running to the TV will pressure them into paying on a ticket that has not won?

I don’t see why Intralot should not sue both Today Tonight and the Herald Sun for defamation. The slander and false pack of lies the media have shown is disgusting.

The customer was clearly not a winner as the terminal said “not a winner”. I even heard the scratchie got reconstructed and it clearer showed the customer still had a non winning ticket.

Oddly, people over here in the west who saw or read about the story have not only believed that Intralot were in the wrong, They’ve somehow translated that to “lotterywest is so much better, we don’t have that happen over here”. People can be weird!
We often get people who think they’ve won, only to find they’ve played the game incorrectly. There are days I think Luke is right!

Today Tonight and the herald Sun are hardly reliable news outlets.

Day 1 of the new $1 million scratchie has seem some success with sales. $20 for a scratchie hasn’t seemed to concern to many people.
