A rumour has reached me claiming that an Australian iPad only business and current affairs magazine will launch early in 2011. While I have no idea if the rumour is true, such a move would be interesting.
I’m surprised that Crikey, being a pure digital news offering, has not taken this road yet. Their success should translate well into a tablet app – or even a new more “magazine” style offering if they were looking to expand.

Given that people who consume content online generally want news as it happens, any digital-only offering will need to be both original and timely. If it isn’t then it will likely fail.
