While the folks behind US wedding website The Knot in the are busy launching an iPad app, Independent Media, from the Australian The Knot website are launching a print magazine tomorrow. Yes, print.
It is a pity that newsagents have not been given an opportunity to determine supply quantities for this new magazine. Magazine distributors who hold us acountable for paying our bills on time need to give us appropriate levers with which to control our level of indebtedness.
launching on the last week of the month again hmmmmm KNOT welcome on my shelf
WE ARE A ONE WEDDING A YEAR TOWN SO I’LL SELL A LOT!
While I’ll let sales data decide, my feeling is that the wedding segment of the magazine market is already well serviced, some might say it is already overserviced in terms of title range. Unless a title is region specific (eg WHITE magazine does well in our area because it if Hunter Valley centric) or has a very clear target market and obvious point of difference, I think it will struggle.
I am also under the impression that wedding magazines profit proportionately more than other magzines by the sheer volume of advertising they contain.
Delayed billing means delayed stickers – no stickers means it does not exist in my POS which means no sales. It will sit in the drawer.
Brett I think you will find the EDI invoice under the date of 6th November. 2010
Graeme,
I think Brett was taking aim at the fact that delayed billing from Network screws up POS data because of the incorrect arrival dates.
I’m actually having a crack at lazy programming that once again lays all the work on our shoulders. It’s 2010, the software exists that can make our life easier but the only one being looked after here is the programmer.
delayed billing is on the agenda to be worked on by the distributors. The current IT approach is appalling.
Couldnt agree, not another wedding mag. Although i think this one seems big on the US. And it’s a lot better than some.
Agree with jarryd, the White mag does look unique and different from the typical wedding mag, not jammed with advertising! It seems like it’s something a bit special. Sells well here also.
