Finally, magazine distributor Gordon and Gotch has seen the light and become more transparent with newsagents about the end of month cut off for submitting magazine returns data. here is the email newsagents received today:
Please be advised that the final time and date for submission of returns to achieve a credit on this month’s statement is
3 PM – Sydney time on Thursday 28 Oct 2010.
Please adjust for your own time zone.
Returns submitted to us after this date and time will be processed in the next Calendar month.
I suspect that this change has been brought on by agitation by some newsagents in complaints to the ACCC. The rest of the channel ought to thank them for working on their behalf.
Mark – above all don’t underestimate your part in this. Thank you
Yes I agree with Ross. Thank you for ‘maintaining the rage’ and bringing our attention to things like the ACCC study. It is part of my daily procedures within the newsagency to log onto your blog daily to keep across issues honestly and reliably. Again, thank you Mark we appreciate your efforts..
i also agree with the posters above. thank you mark for being the voice for a lot of us.
+1, me too
Ditto – Well done Mark
Seriously, important work on this was done by a couple of newsagents. In in particular who took the matter to the ACCC.
I know this a bit off the subject but why does Coles have tip ons an all their A C P mags and i just next door to them does not
Mark, thanks to all involved in this …clearly our representational leadership is lacking in the real issues.
Thankyou to Mark and those who achieved this
Peter
FWIW, this is prolly one of the clearest cases of rep bodies succeeding only in failing their respective memberships miserably. Most spectacularly, it seems!
Why bother with them at all, if those doing all the work to achieve this much have done so off their own bats?
Thanks from us, too.
Mark, you are our leader in this industry.
I too really appreciate all help advice given on this blog. Can advise me on how they have handled competive payment when changing from one card supplier to another. I thought my contract had expired but now am told I have not reached sales targets and am required to pay back several thousand dollars. As an isloted newsagent I have had two rep visits if I am lucky a year. I had 140 empty pockets in the lifestyle section before my wonderful new supplier stepped in.
Carol I’ll contact you provately. I’d need mroe information on your card arrangements though.
I presume by date for submission they mean when processed via Xchangeit or the internet, not the day they get to look at the returns and respond. I think I saw that this month’s cut-off date is 3pm, Friday 26th November.
