In 2005 I knew I had to either expand my newspaper home delivery business or get out. I created a model which I grandly called Circulation Fulfillment Australia and sought to work with nearby newsagents to bring this to life. With no takers I subsequently sold my distribution business and shelved the idea.
I have recently been helping several newsagents on alternative newspaper distribution models and have had reason to revisit the CFA model. I publish my plan from 2005 here for any who want to read it and consider an alternative newsagent controlled distribution model.
I am not looking for any involvement – use the plan any way you wish.
Having had a quick read through the document I cannot believe that a group of newsagents in Melbourne did not attempt this model. We are located in a small rural town in NSW and the amount of time that is spent each day on paper & mags would account for in excess of 50% of staff time.
We realise that we need the paper & mags to draw people but the time involved is huge. I dare say that there would be flaws in the model but we all hae to keep thinking outside the square.
Full marks Mark.

Hello Mark,
Thanks for the release of the business plan. I have similar idea within my area but I have not actually written a plan as yet. Looking at your plan, I see many unclear areas or areas with issue. However, if you don’t mind, I will use some of the idea from the plan.
No worries Robert. I ut it out there for anyone to read, review or use as they see fit.
