Talk about engaging the community! newsXpress Riverlink started offering lottery syndicates based on the leaders of the two major parties in the lead up to the election. Customers could purchase based on their preferred leader. Given the status of the election result, they are continuing with the offer – and sales have been good. This is a terrific idea, leveraging the community connection in a newsagency compared to what does not exist in the national retail chains.
I love that this idea is fun, good for business and good for customer interaction.
Very clever.

I know of two newsagents and a newsagent employee who proudly voted for the sex party.

Most of my friends voted Labor/Sex Party.
Labor for the broadband, and the sex party to try cancel-out the proposed internet filter.

I voted for the sex party and know at least one of our employees did as well. On the subject of politics it will be interesting to see what, if any, of our parliamentary and electoral systems will be reformed over the next three years. The potential stronger influence of minor parties and independents in future parliaments could prove very positive for small business.

Jarryd I agree. As one of the independents said earlier this week, the situation is a stimulus package for democracy.
