Would it be possible for newsagents to play the same game? Similar to a Pack and Send outlet, Newsagents could offer a parcel service and packing service including satchels, just like Pack and Send do.

I have approached Pack and Send about incorporating their freight/packaging model into our newsagency in Macleod. The short answer was ‘no’, they would want a dedicated shop and only selected areas.
I have approached another business with similar ideas.
Mark, I would love to have a chat with you about this topic.

During my holidays in China, and Japen last week, most of convenience stores provide express mail/parcel services.
On a South China BookFair today (NanGuo BookFair in GuangZhou), I had discussed with a Taiwan digital publishing rep, he told me that in Taiwan, people order books from different online bookshop, and select local 7-11 as a pickup point. Many online bookshops provide delivery to 7-11s distribution center once they receive online orders. And 7-11 logestics deliver the books to customer selected 7-11 outlets.
This rep told me that 7-11 and other convenience outlets are changing customers purchase habit.
