The latest issue of Fishing World magazine hit newsagencies today in two versions. One at the usual price of $7.50 and another priced at $12.95 and offering a free Halco laser Pro 120 fishing lure. The lure can be purchased at retail for around $12.00 so the apparent additional $5.45 for the lure does make it a deal. But it’s not free, not when both copies of Fishing World magazine are placed next to each other.
I’d expect the ACCC to have an issue with this promotion.

Either way, what are you doing with the stock. Are you putting out both copies or just one “style”. I could imagine it annoying regular customers that normally pay $7.50 if there were only the $13 ones left.
I’m not sure if you can answer this here but – is there a cost difference to the newsagency? And what are the return policies if you wanted to just sell the mag at $7.50 and return the lure?

We have both copies out at the moment. The newsagent buy price is 25% off the cover price of each version of the magazine.
I only received 1 type up here in fishing central and it is not the 1 with the lure , if it does turn up i will be sure to place them in my tackle box
Haha Had to laugh. I noticed this this morning. Rang Gotch straight away & they are “looking into it” but haven’t got back to me.What a rort! I’ve only got the plain mag out and will return the “free” lure.
I was told yseterday that there was to be a consumer complaint to the ACCC about this. To trigger their interest.
