Newsagent frustration over Best Bets price increase

It appears that not all newsagents may have receiced notice from Fairfax of a price increase (to $5.25 from April 2) for Best Bets and sold the issue for a day before others alerted them to the change.  If it were just one or two who said they missed the price rise I’d wonder.  Given the number of newsagents I have heard from over the last 24 hours I suspect some failure in the notification processes of Fairfax.

    Thanks Mark.

We’ve missed it and lost out.

Don’t these suppliers know we’ve all got lot’s to do and not a lot of time to do it seeing WE’RE dealing with their customers NOT them.

    Courtesy goes a long way.

Could it be that some of you, like us, are just seriously over blanket faxes? I know sometimes we have to be bothered to read them, in case we miss something like this.
We found out via email and blanket fax.

Then again, when mags like TL & T5 etc go up, nobody tells us via any means!

Our situation is interesting. We are sub agents in my two newsagencies. In one case we were told the retail price was $5.00 and in the other $5.25.

They should use xchangit – problem solved.

I never received any notification, by the time we found out, we had already sold 90% of our 30 copies, Thankyou Fairax, another paper company stuff up! They will wait a month before they get paid now, that should make up for any losses.

I would have not known had it not been for this blog. Sold 20 at old price though. Publishers need to stop flooding us with faxes and notices and get smarter about communicting information like this.

    Michael,

You hit the nail on the head. The XchangeIT platform is more than suited to distributing electonic invoices from Fairfax and News Ltd. It would fix a range of problems including price changes. There is no excuse for them not adopting this industry standard.
