Newsagents embrace Tyro broadband eftpos

More than 350 newsagents are now using the broadband eftpos solution from Tyro.  Both POS Solutions and Tower Systems (my software company) offer this fast and secure eftpos link.

Reaching 350 locations is significant because this involved retailers in deciding to go for new technology and quitting their traditional back relationship for eftpos services.

My own experience is that once newsagents see the speed and realise the accuracy benefits they love it.  The benefits, beyond the good fee structure, make it a financially rewarding move for the business.

My customer love it and we love it. Its so fast and the privacy of the unit for customers entering their pin is great. The customers have all got used to swiping their own card. Their card never leaves their hand so no more cards left behind. Its great.

My customers only have good things to say. The tie up with ezipass is good and the papaerwork has been easy. I also have one up on the banks.

Tyro is the only unit to use, the speed alone is worth the change. We used to cringe when using eftpos as the bank eftpos units are so slow it would hold up other customers but now we love it, a transaction sent straight from your pos to the tyro unit and completed in under 3 seconds. I would never go back to a bank unit.

Tyro is a brilliant solution – amongst other things, the ability to immediately check on a transaction is fantastic and along with full integration, speed and privacy this solution is light years ahead of any other offer.

Apart from Carol these comments sound straight out of a marketing text book. Also Mark i think the take up may be a little slow due to the fact that when you arranged a deal with St George back when the Bill Express debacle was at a head it came with a 3 year contract. Contract brekage fee $500 so we had to give it a miss when we owned our store.

    Stephen,

The comments are genuine, unedited and unmoderated.

Yes, the St George deal was 3 years. The option was there for individual newsagents to consider. Many switched to Tyro and saved as a result.

On the uptake for Tyro, it’s been excellent and is gaining pace.

Tyro sounds good and I will probably switch after my deal with st george expires. The only real advantage that i can see would be on the speed side of things, mind you out here in the sticks we lose broadband more often than we lose a land line, so that could become an issue as well.Previous experience tells me that having no eftpos avaiable is a disaster, yeah i know its hard to believe but bigpond does go down sometmes 🙂
