Promoting the first That’s Life for 2010

fhn_thatslife_jan0610.JPGWe are promoting the first issue of That’s Life for the year at the counter as well as with the display you can see in the photo – this is placed at the entrance of the shop as people approach our main lottery counter. That’s Life responds well to promotional displays, especially at holiday time when people have spare time on their hands. We will leave this display up until Friday when we will reassess use of the prime space based on sales.

Not sure if it is good to do some promotions. We did with the point of sale that was sent to us. By 2pm stock was looking low so tried to order some more. None available. Have now sold out by 10am Thursday. What do you do?

it is easy to think that selling out is better than returning some coopies of a title. but if you have any customers who’s routine involves buying TL after you have sold out, it could take some work to get them back into the store.

we were short delivered 85% of womans day one week in december. replacement stock not arriving till wednesday. we had alot of regular customers who didnt buy it other places, because they want to support the local shops.

one lady even said she was even flicking through it at the ckeck out of the supermarket in the next town, but wanted to come into my newsagency to buy it.

if a mag is not delivered at 3am i have to wait till 9am to report it, by which time it has lost 30-40% of sales, then it wont turn up till wednesday and we have lost another 50% on top of that.

    sell outs are not great

Cut back, and sold out this morning.

Sometimes I wonder who runs my shop, the distributors or me?
