We have placed marie claire with Jennifer Hawkins naked on the front cover at the premium space at our main counter as well as in its usual location with women’s magazines. While the counter placement will generate some negative feedback from customers it will also sell more copies.
Personally, I think the interest generates is terrific as it gets people engaging in the body image debate.
The free sunglasses with the magazine are a bonus for an already much talked about issue.
Our sales are already good for this title, but I think the glasses decreases the look of the mag cover. We removed ours and have them at the counter. The customers are still happy to get a freebie but the mag will sell itself with the cover.
This issue disappoints.

It’s selling well for us, ahead of usual. Having it in a good impulse location is key.
It’s selling well for us at the front counter. The one complaint is that I received no advertising material at all. We had yo make our own.
We have our ‘mag of the week’ display in front of the counter. Trouble with this one is that people try to pick up someone’s sunglasses to hand in. A bit of a giggle.

Worst issue of MC ever. I actually flipped past the J Hawk bit by accident because it was so….. uninteresting. These “untouched” pictures are photoshopped to within an inch of her life. If you want to see what she really looks like naturally, do a google image search for “Jennifer Hawkins Cheerleader” and “Jennifer Hawkins Secretary”. It’ll teach you a few things about the wonders of peroxide, fake tan, cosmetic surgery and miracle lighting.

Apart from the sunnies generating more interest, the other funny thing was that one guy flipped through and was very disappointed. Apparently there is naked, and then there is NAKED. He was duly directed to the man-corner. LOL
