We have changed our weekly magazine display at the front of the newsagency from focusing on one title to a feature title and two columns of weeklies. We will run with this for the next few weeks – through the holidays. Regulars here will know that we have enjoyed considerable success selling weeklies from this location. This stand faces the mall and attracts people to purchase magazines who are not in our shop at the time. While it drives good business when promoting a single title, it is actually more valuable when promoting a range of titles as shown in the photo.
Did anyone else this week have their allocation of Women’s Day cut? What little we did get we have sold all but one, which of course is great but not so good for the rest of the week.

If that’s why we didn’t get any of ours, it would be convenient for them to blame the transporters, I suppose.
I might have to change our ‘Sorry – No WD til Wed’ sign. We shall see.

Woolworths have a notebook giveaway with WD this week. I wondered why sales were down.

Got replacements today, but wishing we didn’t.
Had I known they’d have a banner saying
‘free notebook…only at woolworths’, I’d have asked for a credit.
Sorely tempted to not put them out at all.

Well – turns out those were not the replacements. They were the allocation, albeit late.
They’d just mistakenly given us supermarket versions. We got the ‘proper’ replacements last night. Lo and behold, they weren’t the supermarket edition.
This isn’t the first time we’ve copped supermarket covers with special deals. Surely we aren’t the only ones getting these?
