Trading Post classifieds newspaper to close

The Trading Post classifieds newspaper will cease publishing within the next four weeks.  While this has been a topic of discussion for months, there has been no clarity on specifics.  The publisher has certainly worked hard to migrate customers to their website.  In newsagencies, the Trading Post is not paying its way.

The Australian published a report stating that the print edition of the Trading Post is to close.  Telstra has published a notice with details.

We were sold out last Friday. It’s paying it’s way in our store.

The online version is crap with the experiences I’ve had with it.

Sad news if it does go.

We do ok with Trading Post.
Farmers can throw it in the truck and read it anytime.
Bit hard to do that with a computer.
For some reason, they don’t work when bounced around where as the paper trading post works fine

Max, it’s also hard to circle the stuff you want to buy.

Just got the letter myself. Sad news.

I’ll go online at eBay instead of the Trading Post. They’ve lost me now.

Its certainly paying its way in our store. We’re in a regional area so our demographics may be different. There’s going to be a lot of angry customers come the end of October.

Newsagents ought to consider working together to provide an alternative if the market is there.

I think market is there…. print side has closed due to gross internal miss-management – it was doing well and, yes, they are about to alienate a heap of customers. Someone needs to jump not to grab the print customers as they leave.

(regards, soon to be redundant Trading Post employee).

    PG, our sympathies.

Mark, is it time to revisit your project? Pehaps if we all chipped in we could splash the media for a while with it.
