We have sold one copy of Fishing Knots & Rigs from Express Publications in seven weeks on sale. Rather than keep this for another six weeks or so we have cut our losses and returned this title early. The publisher and distributor would prefer that we don’t early return. Since they are not funding my real-estate, labour or theft risk, early returning makes sense. Outside of the early return battle is the issue of the cost of returns. This publication, like most from express Publications, comes bagged with old magazines. We have to pay to ship this stock back to the distributor. The weight of each bag is such that we will spend around $10 shipping these returns back – this is stock we did not order in the first place.
When I do that, because I have sold one then returned them all early next issue they will increase my supply, because it looks like I have run out of stock, how do I solve that problem.

Contact the ACCC. This should not be going on. It seems Express Publications is making it hard for newsagencies. advertisers and subscribers to their mags. I have a decent list of people in all aspects of bother with them. I would love to know if there are any more people out there. Please contact me if this is the case.

Ok. I have an idea. Just an idea, mind you.
To save space in the pockets (bagged piles of crap are a real bugbear of mine…), providing the cover price on the main mag is the same on the bag (usually is), I’m tempted to pull the main mag out of the bag and only display that.
Leave the crap for their more lucrative market. i.e. the supermarkets.
On that basis, I’d be happy to store the rest of the crap in the shed until recall…
Would that bring bad juju, I wonder?
Hmmmm the code to let me post this contains a 666. Question possibly answered…
